Quality is for us the implementation of modern oncology and hematology based on current standards and guidelines without losing the individuality of the patient. We use internal and external quality measurement systems to control and optimize our work and processes. The integration into a hospital guarantees continuous care around the clock.
Safety is for us the basis of the treatment. This includes the careful selection and professionally correct administration of therapies as well as the handling of highly sensitive medications in accordance with national and international guidelines. Our consultations on how to deal with the disease and its symptoms, as well as on the side effects of therapies, give patients and their relatives peace of mind and help them cope with a new life situation.
As a member of the Swiss Cancer Network, we contribute to high-quality oncological treatment and care close to home for all patients in Switzerland. Since 2009, our Oncology and Hematology Center has been certified according to ISO (International Organization for Standardization). This is a recognized indicator of high quality and is reviewed annually.
In addition, we regularly carry out internal quality controls.
Interdisciplinary tumor board
The Oncology and Hematology Center supervises and leads the interdisciplinary tumor board of Männedorf Hospital. At these weekly meetings, all oncological treatment concepts are discussed on an interdisciplinary basis. The written tumor board recommendation is discussed personally with the patient. Subsequently, the further treatment is mutually determined.
Internal and external networking
Our specialists in oncology and hematology work closely with the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and the center hospitals in northeastern Switzerland in the area of diagnostics and special oncological therapies. Radiation treatments can be carried out by the radiotherapy department of the Hirslanden Clinic at our hospital in Männedorf, and we treat breast cancers on an interdisciplinary basis with the Breast Center Zurich. Our information service is also supra-regional: For example, external patients can also participate in the course "Learning to live with cancer".
In addition, we support the studies of the Swiss Working Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK). In treatment concepts aimed at prolonging or curing life, symptom-relieving or supportive measures are very important. The Oncology and Hematology Center therefore works closely with other departments, such as nutritional counseling, pastoral care or physiotherapy at Männedorf Hospital. This enables individual and holistic treatment and care for our patients.
Cooperation with the cantonal cancer registries
In order to learn more about the causes, courses and treatment options of tumor diseases, the cantonal cancer registries collect all data on tumor diseases throughout Switzerland.
These are evaluated anonymously. The data is passed on to the cantonal cancer registries in accordance with the legal basis, i.e. if the patient does not object to this. If you do not agree to your data being passed on, please let us know.
