About this disease
What it concerns
Due to poor posture, discomfort may occur in various areas of the body, including muscles and joints. This may be due to unhealthy habits or based on forced positions at work or when using sports equipment or a musical instrument. Fixing or correcting these habits and positions is the goal of the treatment.
Types
There are different types of bad posture: from weaknesses in the foot that trigger discomfort in the foot itself or in the knee, to bad posture at work that causes neck discomfort or even tension headaches, or being in an awkward position when playing a musical instrument that triggers discomfort.
Symptoms and consequences
Due to poor posture, stresses occur in a part of the body where we do not want them to be. As a result, either a structure such as a ligament is over-burdened at said location, or the musculature is excessively strained. In both cases, complaints such as tension or pain arise. These do not necessarily have to occur where the problem orginates.
How we can help you
Examination and diagnosis
By examining your posture at your office desk, while using sports equipment or whilst playing a musical instrument, we can trace the origin of incorrect postures and overloads.
Treatment
Complaints related to incorrect posture can be positively influenced by targeted physiotherapy. An essential part of the treatment is learning and internalizing the correct position, which is more favorable for the body. Since our bodies have individual characteristics, the treatment is individually adapted to the patient. By training the appropriate muscles and maintaining the correct position, an attempt is made to alleviate the discomfort.
