Specialized consultation

In-depth consultation and discussion of any surgeries by a member of the colorectal team, usually by Reint Burger, MD, Chief of Visceral Surgery.

Tumor surgery on the intestine

Whenever possible, tumor tissue is gently removed using the so-called keyhole technique and also, increasingly, the DaVinci robot - for utmost precision and safety.

Diverticulum operations

Laparoscopic sigmoid resection may be considered for recurrent inflammation and high levels of distress.

Operations for CED

Surgery is only considered for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis when all conservative therapies have been exhausted.

Information on surgery for colorectal cancer

Our team

In the case of complex and rare clinical pictures such as rectal carcinoma or advanced tumor diseases that require additional surgery on the lungs and/or liver, we work closely with the colorectal team of the Clinic for Visceral and Transplant Surgery of the University Hospital Zurich. In concrete terms, this may mean that we operate on you together with our colleagues from the USZ at the Zurich site. However, all preliminary clarifications and follow-up care will take place at Männedorf Hospital.
