In our Palliative Care Competence Center we offer
Symptom control
One of the most important goals is the treatment and improvement of distressing symptoms and complex pain management.
Decision-making on procedures, therapies and care
As the disease progresses, we organize "round table discussions" with those affected and their relatives in order to find the best individual path together.
A sustainable network
A stay on the palliative care ward can have different goals, such as the care and treatment of the person affected, relief for relatives or support at the end of life. Our team works closely with all those involved to ensure the best possible care when the patient returns home or transfers to another institution.
Personal atmosphere
The comfortably furnished single and double rooms on the palliative care ward offer a personal atmosphere and are open to all insurance classes. Each room has its own bathroom, a view of the lake and access to the park. A meeting room is also available for relatives.
PALIMED
PALIMED supports seriously ill people in their final phase of life - at home or in a nursing home. Our team specializes in palliative care and provides the medical service for the two care teams Palliaviva and Palliative Care-Team GZO Wetzikon.
PALIMED is an association of the Männedorf and Uster hospitals and the participating doctors
Our team
Our interprofessional team consists of highly qualified doctors, nurses and nutritionists as well as specialists from physiotherapy, psychology, pastoral care and social services. We are also supported by two therapy dogs, an art therapist and volunteers from the "Freiwillige Sitzwache" association. Regular team meetings are held in order to achieve the goal of the best possible, individualized and holistic treatment.

Information for patients
Admission to our palliative care unit is possible from within the hospital, from other hospitals and also from home.
However, various admission criteria apply:
- The presence of a serious, progressive and incurable disease
- Deterioration of the already limited general condition with advanced disease
- Difficult decision making
- Overburdened and overworked family members providing care or unresolved care situation
- Our palliative care unit is for patients requiring acute hospitalization and is not a long-term institution. As a rule, the minimum length of stay is one week. However, the aim of a stay on the palliative care ward is to help patients find a long-term follow-up solution if it is no longer possible for them to go home.
